Veronica Ghini was born in 1989. She graduated with laude in Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Florence and in 2016 she obtained the title of PhD in "Structural Biology" presenting a thesis focused on the applications of Metabolomics using NMR spectroscopy in biomedicine. Currently, she is a senior post-doc at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Florence. Her main research field deals with the application of NMR spectroscopy to study biological matrices with a special focus on metabolomics.
She has been the recipient of a Veronesi Foundation Post-doctoral Fellowship (2018) and a AIRC Post-doctoral Fellowship (2019-2020) as well as of a short term EMBO fellowship (2016). For her research activities she was awarded with 3 prizes: i) GIDRM under 35 Award (2022); ii) Galileo Galilei Giovani for Chemical Sciences (2022); iii) Lisa de Conciliis Award (2021). She actively promoted the application of NMR in biological sciences in various scientific communities by participating in several national and international congresses. She is Co-Editor for the volume “Metabolomics and Its Impact on Health and Diseases” of the series Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology, Springer Nature (2023). She also served as lecturer of the course “'Metabolomics and Drug Discovery' within the II level Master’s program in Drug Design & Synthesis, University of Siena (2023,2025).
