Born in Florence, Italy 1960. PhD in Chemistry in 1991 (University of Florence). Assistant Professor at the University of Florence in 1992. Professor at the Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris (Paris VI) in 1998. Professor at the University of Florence in 2001. Temporary appointments at the following Universities: Universitè de Paris-Sud (Paris XI), Universitad de Valencia (Spain), Universitad d’Elche (Spain), Université d’Evry (France). Faculty Member of the of the European Advanced Course on Chemistry of Metal in Biological Systems (Louvain La Neuve, Belgium) since 1997. Member of the Teaching Panel of the International Doctorate in Structural Biology of the University of Florence since 2000. Panel Member of the National School in NMR spectroscopy, organized by the Italian Interdivisional Group on Magnetic Resonance of the Italian Chemical Society. Fluent in Italian, English, French. BSc teaching in: General and Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry (in France, 1998-2000). MSc teaching in: Analytical methods for organic chemistry (in France, 1998-2000), spectroscopic methods for biological molecules. PhD teaching on methodological aspects of NMR in Structural Biology and in Biological Inorganic Chemistry. His research interests have been always focused on methodological aspects of NMR spectroscopy with a special concern to paramagnetic metalloproteins. Co-author of the first solution structure of a paramagnetic protein ever solved by NMR (1994), he has spent the last years in addressing the use of non-conventional constraints to assist and improve the quality of NMR solution structures.
He is author of about 75 research articles on international journals of wide reknown. He has held Seminars in many Universities and Research Institutions worldwide. Among them: Institute Pasteur, Paris; Biocentrum, Univ. Frankfurt; University of Basel, Tata Insitute, Mumbai, India; Osaka University, Japan. Invited Lectures at International Conferences such as EENC (European Experimental NMR Conference), ESF Conference in NMR, International Conference in Biomedical Spectroscopy. Plenary Lecture at the National NMR Meeting of the GIDRM. Organizer of International Conferences. Member of the Board of the Italian NMR Discussion Group (2002-2004).
