ERIK 111

On July 4, 2017, the European Commission adopted the decision to grant Instruct the official ERIC status

Instruct is the pan-European research infrastructure in structural biology, making high-end technologies and methods available to users.

The CERM/CIRMMP Research Infrastructure of the University of Florence is the Italian Instruct Centre.

Instruct became operational in 2012. Since then, Instruct has grown to provide new infrastructure, new modes of service delivery, excellent training courses and internships, and has supported scientists through its R&D Pilot programme. Instruct-ERIC will provide the stability and sustainability for Instruct services to the structural biology community and to the broader life sciences communities within Europe.

Italy is one of the founding members of Instruct and has also participated as a founding member in the establishment of Instruct as Instruct-ERIC. This has allowed our scientists to gain access to the most advanced tools in the fields of protein sample preparation, biophysical characterization, X-ray Crystallography, NMR, Cryo-EM and MS.

The Italian participation at Instruct is being financially supported by MIUR, with Lucia Banci as coordinator.

The Instruct-ERIC Ceremony took place on 18th July at the Royal Society, in London.
